Prior to engaging in this discussion, please read the “Constructivism in Theory and Practice,” “Rona’s Story and the Theory of Symbolic Interactionism,” and “Symbolic Interactionism and Critical Perspective” articles, and review any relevant Instructor Guidance. Respond to at least two of your classmates by Day 5 (Saturday). Comment on at least one of your classmates’ responses to your initial post by Day 7 of the week. Be sure to respond to your instructor’s comments to you in this forum by Day 7.
Demonstrate your understanding of the complexities of how we learn by evaluating the potential correlations between symbolic interactionism and constructivism. Apply basic research methods in psychology to your post by synthesizing the principles from the articles in your own words with appropriate citations. Do not quote the articles directly. Based on your course resources, scholarly articles, and the knowledge you have developed throughout the past four weeks, critically consider how/if these correlations might affect a person’s ability and/or willingness to learn new material. Consider the following in your analysis:
Symbolic interactionism is actually a theory posed in sociological psychology. Do you believe this theory can be aligned with the framework of constructivism, which originates from learning psychology? Why, or why not? Support your statements with scholarly research and personal examples. In your opinion, what prevents (or substantiates) their correlation?Based on these theories, what possible needs should be considered when teaching skills to a group of diverse learners?
We covered the topic of love during the 3/24/15 class. Watch the following video (see below) that features best selling author Dr. Gary Chapman talking about his book, The Five Love Languages. What is your reaction to the concepts Dr. Chapman relies on to help couples in their relationships? What do you think of the five “love languages?” Have you ever taken the Five Love Language quiz? If you have taken the quiz, what were your results (e.g. what was your Love Language)? If you have not taken the quiz, what do you think your results would reveal if you did take the quiz? You are welcome to take the free quiz at www.5lovelanguages.com (Links to an external site.) but it asks for your email address so I am not requiring you to do this.

Assignment 3: Research Design and Data Collection
Submit your response to the M1: Assignment 3 Dropbox by Wednesday, October 28, 2015 . Your response should be at least three pages in length.
Given the hypothesis high employee satisfaction is correlated with low employee absenteeism, address the following in your paper this week:Identify the variables in this study. What are some extraneous variables that might impact your research? How would you control for extraneous variables?Which research design would you use to study this hypothesis and why? What data collection techniques would you use to study this hypothesis and why?Assuming that you get a correlation of r = -.70, what does this tell you about the strength and direction of the correlation between satisfaction and absenteeism? What are some potential problems you might encounter, and what strategies would you use to minimize these problems?Use APA standards.
Developmental Parenting Paper
In this course we examine the theories and stages of Childhood Development as they relate to parenting. You are going to write a paper on any stage of Childhood Development that interests you (birth to age two, 2-5 years old, elementary school, early adolescence, etc). You will need to apply the theories and conceptslearned in your textbook as well as incorporate information from 2 other sources. The APUS library will be a great place to start this research as well as the sources listed at the end of the syllabus.
The introduction should be a brief summary of what you are going to write about. Your introduction should briefly describe the stage of development you chose and explain why you chose it. The body of your paper should back up your introduction. Use your research to thoroughly discuss/explain the stage of development you chose by discussing thephysical, mental, emotional, etc. changes that occur during that stage. You must also answer these questions: Why is childhood development important to understand when it comes to parenting? Describe and give examples of effective parenting techniques for this developmental stage. In your opinion, what are the most challenging behaviors of this stage? Explain how you (or any parent) can apply the parenting techniques/styles from the books to those challenging behaviors. What do you think is the most important aspect/concept and/or theory of the stage you chose and why? Your conclusion should summarize your paper as well as answer: What is the most interesting thing you learned from writing this paper and why?
This paper will be a minimum of 3-5 pages long, not including title and reference pages. APA format required. Your textbook is the main source for this paper along with two other scholarly sources.

This paper must be submitted as a Word doc. General Writing Requirements · Use appropriate APA formatting, in-text (parenthetical), and Reference citations. APA formatting guides are available in our class Resources link. APA tutorials are also available on the APUS Library page. We highly advise taking the APA tutorial available in the APU library. · APA formatting requires a separate cover page and a separate References page. Neither counts toward the page length. · Headings are not required, but include a “running header.” (See the APA formatting guide in the Resources link). · Sources must be cited in the body of your paper (in-text or parenthetical citations) and on a page titled: “References” (without the quotation marks). · Paraphrases should be used instead of quotes unless the quote is VERY short and necessary for complete understanding or to make a particular point. Place quotes inside quotation marks and properly cite them. Failure to correctly quote or cite, even if not intended is plagiarism and will result in a zero on the paper for a first instance and course failure for a second occurrence in any other assignment. Rewrites are not permitted for plagiarized work. · Size 10 – 12 point font in Times New Roman, Arial, or Courier new must be used for all parts of the paper. · One–inch margins are required.
